Las Vegas 4th of July

Las Vegas 4th of July

A few years ago, my good friend Peter Liu and I attended Photoshop World in Las Vegas. Needless to say, we took our camera gear and ventured out into the city one evening. The shot above seems appropriate this week as we ramp up to America’s 234th 4th of July celebration. Hope you all have a safe and sane holiday and that we all stop for a moment to appreciate what we have in the U.S.A., what it cost generations of Americans to preserve it and . . . how fragile any Republic can be.

Arches National Park

June 15, 2010

My friend Jim Milligan and I went on one of Bob Evan’s excellent photo workshops to Arches National Park near Moab, Utah a while back where I shot this view of the Colorado River at Dead Horse Point. With the summer solstice less than a week away (July 21st, 0728 hrs EDT) this seemed like [...]

Valley of Fire

June 11, 2010

A few years ago I went to my first Photoshop World in Las Vegas with my good friend Peter Liu. One of the side trips was to the Valley of Fire State Park. The image above struck me due to the variety of colors and the sunset on the mountain. It was a great day [...]

New Zealand Lily

June 4, 2010

I took this shot in a New Zealand greenhouse in February of 2003 with a point-and-shoot digital camera. I stumbled across it recently and was amazed at the quality considering it was captured in the early days of the “digital revolution.” Not long after this, my friend Peter Liu persuaded me to go to a [...]

April 6, 2010

I’ve finally gotten around to creating some very nice 5″X7″ Note cards of various scenes across the country and around the world. We have some spectacular landscapes in America and one of the items on my “bucket list” is to photograph as many of them as I can. The image above is a sample of [...]

Cotopaxi Cabin

March 11, 2010

This cabin sits at the bottom of Mt. Cotopaxi about 45 kilometers (28 mi) south of Quito, Ecuador, South America. As is often the case, Jim Milligan was my shooting partner on this trip. We were headed to the Galapagos for a cruise and had a couple of days in Quito before getting on the [...]

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park

March 5, 2010

I took this image a few years back when my good friend Jim Milligan was visiting the Washington, D.C. area on business. Jim, Peter Liu and I often shoot together and I have great admiration for both their “eyes” for the perfect shot. In fact, I took the Barn at Mormon Row shot I posted [...]

Longing For Spring!

February 21, 2010

I don’t think there is anyone in the Washington, DC, Northern Virginia or Southern Maryland areas that wouldn’t love to see this image of the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool, the WWII Memorial, Washington Monument and Capitol without snow!
Hopefully we’ll have an early spring and another mild summer!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2010

Arguably the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day is certainly one of the biggest hitters for the greeting card and flower industries. I hope you’ll enjoy the photo above. Worst case, if you didn’t get a chance to send your Valentine something, at least forward this picture to them!
